Michael Keaton-starrer 'Batman Beyond' film reportedly gets scrapped by DC Studios
This week's news of DC Studios' drastic franchise reset included cancelling even more upcoming projects. How extreme is it? So "Wonder Woman 3" is no longer in the works, and "Man of Steel 2" might not either.

"Wonder Woman 3" and "Man of Steel 2" may no longer be under development. Additionally, there may be some significant recasting in the future, such as Henry Cavill ceasing to be Superman and Jason Momoa switching from Aquaman to Lobo. When a studio hires new co-heads, as DC did with James Gunn and Peter Safran, there is such disruption. But the truth behind this shaking up will only become apparent with time. However, it appears that the long list of shelved DCU projects has another one. A claim that DC Studios scrapped a prospective 'Batman' film featuring Michael Keaton as the lead actor first surfaced online yesterday. Now, ComicBookMovie.com has verified the rumour’s veracity.
The cancelled intentions for the future of the DCU become more apparent in light of the news of this project. Although Keaton made a brief appearance in "Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom," Ben Affleck now plays Bruce Wayne/Batman instead of him. Keaton's Wayne would have served as a role model for new, younger members of the DC Universe in addition to that cameo, the Batgirl movie, and now "Batman Begins". In the "Batman Beyond" series, an older, retired Bruce Wayne hands Terry McGinness the cowl and cape of Batman and instructs him to battle crime. It seems likely that the future DCU films would have featured McGinness as Batman if Hodson's script had been used.
