Emma Raducanu was dominant from the start of the match. She won the first set 6-1 against her American counterpart. Kessler seemed to face difficulties while playing. She later walked to the referee and retired, citing a back issue.Speaking after the match, Emma wished Kessler a speedy recovery, the Express reported. She praised her opponent’s form as well.
"It's never the way any athlete wants to win the match," the British tennis star said. "I wish McCartney a speedy recovery. She's in such good form right now and playing so well, playing so aggressively.”
Talking about her journey at the Miami Open, Raducanu said it is difficult. Both she and Kessler had long-lasting matches.

The British tennis star has been in a slump recently. She progressed to the third round of the Australian Open before losing to Iga Swiatek. Prior to her appearance in the Miami Open, Raducanu had suffered losses in five of her six games since the Australian Open.Emma started the Miami Open on a positive note. The World No. 60 defeated Japanese player Sayaka Ishii in straight sets. Her victory against Emma Navarro in the second round was the third time she won against an opponent ranked in the top 10 of the WTA.
Last week, the 2021 US Open champion ended her partnership with coach Vladimir Platenik. Platenik, whose association with Raducanu lasted only two weeks, was the tennis star’s seventh coach so far. The British tennis player has been on a hunt to regain her 2021 form, when she won the US Open.

The British tennis star has faced criticism for changing coaches frequently. Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios came out in defence of Raducanu and said that coaches were “overrated.”“People awfully quiet that Radacanu is winning now,” the Australian commented on X. “Where all the experts at now? Lol coach’s overrated [sic].”
