'Mexico Trilogy': Low-budget epic film coming in Blu-Ray 4K edition. Details here

Robert Rodriguez’s Mexico Trilogy will be dropping in a new avatar as a Blu Ray-4K edition and will also include interviews from the cast and crews, it will also have intricate details about the films.

Shoestring budget movies that catch the attention of ace directors like Quentin Tarantino are very rare these days, but back in the 90s, Robert Rodriguez made it a reality by making 'El Mariachi' in 1993, which kicked off the popular trilogy. Now, 'Mexico Trilogy' will be coming with a fresh look and feel along with a unique viewing experience with its HD Blu-Ray and 4K editions.

'Desperado trilogy'

'Mexico Trilogy', also known as the 'Desperado trilogy' was one of the firsts in the 90's that made low-budget films popular across the globe and received positive and critical acclaim. The trilogy began with El Mariachi, which holds a Guinness World Record for the lowest-budgeted film ever to gross $1 million at the box office, according to reports.

If one sees the production crew of El Mariachi, the reason for the extremely low budget can be figured out. For starters, the entire screenplay, direction, production and editing were done by that one man: Robert Rodriguez. It had a typically lower number of cast and was not typically shot in posh sets, yet not compromising on thrill and excitement, thus making it such a unique film to behold.

Columbia Pictures renewed films based on hype

Then came the second film in the Mexico Trilogy, which was financed only because distributors of El Mariachi, Columbia Pictures, loved the response from the released film so much and the hype around it, that they chose to make similar content. Thus, Desperado, the second film of the trilogy dropped and yet again created another sensation at the box office.

Then came the mighty 'Desperado 2', or 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico', as you may know, which is the third movie from this epic trilogy. Yet again, all the burden of responsibility including writing, directing, producing and editing was entrusted to the same person, Rodriguez, who again delivered successfully, with Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Johnny Depp and others starring in the film.
