In the past, the Loop has had a lot of traffic jams that made it hard to get around. This year, city officials and police are making plans to keep things moving in the downtown area.
What kinds of restrictions could be in place?
The Chicago Police Department said that if traffic gets too bad, only people who live or work in the central business district will be able to drive downtown. Checkpoints will ask for proof of residence, employment, or event reservations. These rules only apply to cars; people walking will not be affected, as per a report by ABC 7 EyeWitness News.
