According to New York Mets' first baseman, his car was T-boned and flipped over thrice while another driver ran the red light.
Then, Alonso tried to kick his windshield to get out of this harrowing accident. Finally, with the help of his wife, Haley, Pete Alonso came out of the car without any significant injury.
On Sunday, while departing for camp, the accident occurred about five minutes away from his house in Tampa.
Currently, Alonso is in stable condition without any physical injury, although it is clear that he is mentally shaken after the massive accident.
The accident was really close to death, as he admitted that anything could happen at any given moment. He also realized that anything could be derailed at any moment, citing the incident. While at one moment, he was driving to attend his Spring Training and the very next moment, he was kicking his windshield trying to get out of the flipped-over car.
After Pete Alonso's car accident, he confirmed that his family was fine. He added that his wife acted as an 'absolute trooper' in this situation and called the police after the brutal accident.
Pete Alonso went for batting practice and fielding drills on Monday while he is anticipating joining the full Spring Training session on Tuesday, as confirmed from his side.
The news of the accident was informed by Alonso's manager Buck Showalter, who stated they were lucky enough to survive.
Alonso, 27, made his debut in the Major League with the Mets in 2019. He batted 262 with 37 homers and 94 RBIs in the last season.
