Mercedes chief Toto Wolff, Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur reprimanded for using abusive language

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff and Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur have been reprimanded for the language they used regarding Carlos Sainz's recent manhole mishap. The two will be required to present themselves to the stewards on Thursday.

Ahead of the final race of the season, Abu Dhabi Grand Pix 2023 is all set to host the star racers on November 26.

As Ferrari and Mercedes will be against each other in the race, the bosses of the two, Toto Wolff and Frederic Vasseurhave, have been reprimanded by the FIA, the governing body of motor sport. This happened after they 'certain language' during the press conference.

The two used certain language in relation to the recent Las Vegas mishap that happened to Carlos Sainz's car which was damaged due to a loose manhole cover in the first practise.


"The FIA regards language of this type to be unacceptable, moving forward, particularly when used by participants in the sport who have a high public profile and who are seen by many, especially younger, followers of the sport, as role models, and that in future the FIA will not tolerate the use of such language in FIA forums by any stakeholder," said the official statement of FIA.

The governing body has called the language used by Toto and Vasseurhave has 'unacceptable' as they are 'high public profiles" and were "role models".

As a result of the comments made by the bosses, the two will be required to report to the stewards on Thursday.

The incident wrote off Sainz's Ferrari and required the team to build up a new car with a new engine, which led to a 10-place grid penalty for using more than the permitted number of engine parts this season.

"We f**ked up the session for Carlos. We won’t be part of FP2 for sure... I think it’s just unacceptable for F1 today," said Ferrari Boss. Wolff called the incident a 'black eye.'
