Dave Chappelle, a stand-up comedian in the U.S, was performing live on stage when a member of the audience attacked him. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced the incident, which took place at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.

The police claimed that the stand-up comedian was about to exit the stage, and that's when an audience member jumped on stage, and the security had to intervene to calm the situation down and detain the male suspect.

The police identified the suspect as Isaiah Lee, 23, and Lee has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. He sustained "superficial injuries" while he was being detained, according to the police. His injuries are being evaluated as he was taken to a hospital.

The motive is not clear. However, Isaiah was caught with a gun replica which ejects a knife blade. LAPD claimed that Dave Chappelle was not injured while he performed for Netflix Is A Joke festival.

There have been growing concerns in the world of comedy regarding the safety of comedians since Will Smith went on stage and slapped Chris Rock. Since the incident, Smith has been banned from the Academy Awards for his on-stage assault for ten years. Interestingly, Chris Rock has not pressed any charges.

After the recent controversies, Dave Chappelle has signed a new deal with Netflix. He will now be producing more comedy specials. He faced a lot of criticism in 2021 when many people saw his Netflix special "The Closer" as transphobic.

At least a hundred people protested outside the headquarters of Netflix to ask the streaming service to avoid any future instances of streaming any hate speech and transphobia in October. He believes that some people are trying to "cancel" him, and he has hit back at them. In his comedy special on Netflix, he said that LGBT people are too sensitive and that gender is a fact.

Jimmy Carr, the British comedian, also performed on Tuesday. Outrage ensued after his comments on Gypsies, Travelers, and Roma communities in his special on Netflix. Carr took to Twitter and commented that he was happy that everyone was okay.
