Melania Trump did not attend the Alaska summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin last week, but she was “present in spirit.” President Trump gave Putin a letter from his wife, asking him to think of children suffering in the Russia-Ukraine war and stop the violence.

Melania’s letter included emotional lines about children keeping their “quiet laughter” despite war and urged Putin to “restore their melodic laughter.” Attorney General Pam Bondi shared the letter on social media, where people quickly noticed something strange — Melania’s signature, as per reports.

Melania Trump signature looks like Donald Trump

Online users said the signature looked identical to Donald Trump’s, with many posting side-by-side comparisons on X and Facebook. Social media comments said, “That’s Trump’s own signature,” “Why does she use his Sharpie signature?” and “No way she signed it herself, Trump did.” Some also pointed out Melania’s signature has changed over the years, even asking Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok why, as stated by The Independent.

Grok replied that her style changed after marrying Trump in 2005, becoming more “peaked” and similar to his — possibly for branding or faster signing. Handwriting expert Bart Baggett agreed, saying Melania’s angular style existed before Trump, but her signature has “morphed” in the last decade to match the Trump “brand.”

Baggett explained her current signature looks more like a logo than handwriting, and the Putin letter showed an “aggressive” style — fitting the summit’s display of U.S. power, like the B-2 bomber flyover. He stressed there was no evidence of forgery, saying conspiracy theories were “grasping at straws”, as mentioned in the reports.

Trump Sharpie pen and autopen conspiracy

Online chatter also turned to Trump’s Sharpie pen, which he famously loves and used for signing executive orders. X users joked, “Did she borrow his Sharpie?” Baggett said, "It's quite possible,” he also added, indicating towards the signature on the letter that, “I think a Sharpie probably was used, and it is very typical of his brand,” “For some people, if you write really heavy, Sharpies are really good instrument. People that write heavy are more passionate”, as stated in the report by The Independent.

Trump himself once explained in a 2018 HBO documentary that expensive pens were “horrible,” and Sharpies were cheaper and worked better. Speculation then shifted to whether Melania used an autopen, a device that copies signatures. Some joked about it online, while others tied it to Trump’s past claims that Biden uses autopen for pardons, as per The Independent.

The Independent contacted the White House to ask if Melania used a Sharpie or autopen, but no official answer has been given. Baggett concluded the mystery remains, but said Melania’s handwriting style still matches her known patterns, with “Trumpian aggressiveness” in its sharp triangles.
