Donald Trump's announcement
In January this year, President Trump announced Gibson, Voight and Stallone as the special ambassadors of Hollywood, stating that they will "serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!”While speaking to Sean Hannity in January, Gibson shared that they only found out about being appointed a Hollywood ambassador after the US President posted the same on social media. He said he was ready and willing to serve in "any way I can.”
Gibson even claimed that tax incentives for shooting work in California were not enough to keep the region competitive.
He even alleged that Arnold Schwarzenegger, who earlier served as the California Governor, made a possible effort to "level the playing field years ago," but he was unable to do so "because there were obstacles.”
