Mega Million Jackpot climbs to $900 million as record winless streak extends into 39th drawing

Mega Millions jackpot soars to a colossal $900 million, marking the longest winless streak in its history. Friday's drawing saw no grand prize winner, with the winning numbers being 16, 21, 23, 48, 70, and Mega Ball 5. This unprecedented dry spell...

The next Mega Millions jackpot

The Mega Millions jackpot has surged to a staggering $900 million after Friday night's (November 7) drawing produced no grand prize winner, extending what has now become the longest winless streak in the game’s history.

The winning numbers for the estimated $843 million jackpot were 16, 21, 23, 48, 70, with the Mega Ball 5. However, no ticket matched all six numbers, meaning the top prize will roll over once again ahead of the next drawing on Tuesday night.

Even more unusually, no ticket matched all five white balls, a combination that would have secured a multimillion-dollar payout.

Had a player won on Friday, they could have chosen between the $900 million annuity option, paid out over 30 years, or a one-time cash payment of $391.7 million.

This marks the largest Mega Millions prize since the game’s April revamp, when ticket prices rose from $2 to $5 and non-jackpot prize tiers were boosted. Despite the higher stakes, the odds of hitting the jackpot remain daunting, 1 in 290,472,336 under the new format.

The upcoming drawing will be the 39th consecutive one without a jackpot winner, a record-breaking dry spell for Mega Millions. The last time someone hit the grand prize was on June 27, when an anonymous ticket holder from Burgess, Virginia, claimed a $348 million jackpot.

That winner opted for the $155.6 million cash payout rather than the full annuity and humorously told lottery officials they planned to celebrate by purchasing a new zero-radius riding lawn mower.

With no big winner in more than three months, anticipation and the jackpot continue to build. All eyes will now be on Tuesday’s drawing, as hopeful players across the country chase one of the richest prizes in Mega Millions history.
