Meek Mill’s Halloween night ended on a scary note as he faced detention by New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers, which he claims was for no reason. A video surfaced on the Internet showing the rapper standing with his arms behind his back. He was apparently questioned by police as supporters were seen rallying behind him early Saturday morning (November 1, 2025).

Mill, 38, was friends with Sean "Diddy" Combs, 55, before he began distancing himself from the music mogul following the start of a sex trafficking case against him in 2024, according to The Mirror.

What did the NYPD say about Meek Mill’s detention?

Police responded to reports of a male with a firearm just after 4 AM this morning, which led to officers stopping three men in a vehicle matching the description and license plate they received, a spokesperson for the NYPD told TMZ.

TMZ also learned that police did not find the alleged firearm. No arrests took place, and all three men were let go.

Meek breaks silence on the incident

The rapper spoke out about the incident on social media platform X shortly after it all went down. He told his 11 million followers that police "pulled" him from his car and handcuffed him—claiming they even had guns trained on him. However, the video online does not show what he described.

The hitmaker dubbed the entire ordeal "embarrassing" and even admitted he thought it was a prank, though he later wrote on social media he now thinks, "They tryna get me ..." TMZ reached out to Meek's rep for more information, and so far no response has been received.
