A first in itself, the famous fast food chain McDonald's has unveiled an automated store in Texas. The facility allows ordering food without using a mobile app or a kiosk. Customers will get their orders on the conveyor belt without human contact. The restaurant is designed to be a 'grab and go' facility with no seats and table arrangements to dine inside the restaurant.

Compared to other McDonald's, this specific store is smaller in size, and the primary purpose of the restaurant is to increase accuracy and order speed. The customers can order their food before reaching the restaurant without wasting time waiting and ordering. The Company said it is developing new ways to serve customers faster and more efficiently.





The Company said that the food is still prepared by human staff at the restaurant, but the human contact with the customers is ended by the new method. Keith Vanecek, the restaurant's franchisee, said that the new approach allows our restaurant team to concentrate more on order speed, making the experiences more efficient and enjoyable for the customers and staff members.

However, the Company has faced much criticism because of making the process automated as it will affect people's jobs. The minimum pay in Texas is among the lowest in the US, at $7.25 an hour. And cutting employment in such a state worries the people who are already apprehensive of robots and automation replacing human labour.
