​McDonald’s Monopoly returns with $1 million cash prize: Here’s how to play and what else you can win​

A peel, a scan and possibly a prize, McDonald’s Monopoly has returned for another run, with a $1 million cash prize among the rewards available to customers.

The promotion returned October 6, with Monopoly game pieces appearing on select McDonald’s food and drink packaging. Customers can use the physical pieces and the McDonald’s app to take part in different parts of the game.

Where to Find McDonald’s Monopoly Game Pieces

Game pieces are available with select breakfast, lunch and dinner purchases.


The participating items include Quarter Pounders with Cheese, Egg McMuffins, large fries and select large hot and cold drinks.

Once customers receive a game piece, they can peel it and scan it through the McDonald’s app. Depending on the piece, it can provide an instant food prize or MyMcDonald’s Rewards points.

Other pieces allow customers to collect Monopoly properties or take part in the digital Chance Card game.

McDonald’s Monopoly Has a $1 Million Cash Prize

The promotion’s top cash prize is $1 million.

There is a specific payment structure for that prize: the winner receives $50,000 a year for 20 years without interest, as per a Yahoo News report.

The other prizes cover several categories. Customers can win 2027 Jeep Cherokees, Carnival cruise vacations, trips to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and Polaris vehicles.

There are also $50,000 prizes toward a home down payment and $50,000 toward college debt. Gift cards and free McDonald’s food are also part of the prize lineup, according to Fox Business.

How the McDonald’s App Fits Into the Game

The physical game pieces are connected to digital features through the McDonald’s app.

Customers can scan their pieces in the app and, depending on what they receive, get an instant food prize or between 1,500 and 7,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points. Players can also collect Monopoly properties or access the digital Chance Card game.

Those taking part digitally must register for the promotion through the McDonald’s app and opt into the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program.

McDonald’s Monopoly Runs Into November

The promotion is scheduled to continue through November 1, while game pieces last. The digital Chance Card game runs through November 8, while prize claims are due by November 22.

There is also a no-purchase-necessary method of entry available by mail.

With the promotion now underway, customers can find the physical Monopoly pieces on qualifying items and use the McDonald’s app to scan them and participate in the available digital features.
