She confessed that she felt terribly bad about not being there for both her city and her family, who were also affected by the fires, Bass remarked.

The Palisades Fire began on January 7 and grew during the night, but the mayor did not return to the city until January 8 and was quickly criticized for her refusal to respond to a Sky News reporter's repeated questions when she arrived, as reported by The NY Post.
