When the show was gaining so much popularity Matthew Perry was struggling with his own battles with alcohol and drug addiction, but he also said that his co-stars from friends always helped him to recover and he continued by saying that it is not fair that he was going through all of this alone.

It's unfair that I had to experience this illness while the other five did not, he said again. Everything I had was given to them. However, I had to battle this and continue to battle this.

While Perry was promoting his biography, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," he was also on a better road in recent years.

After being involved in a Jet Ski accident in 1997, he started using Vicodin and went to rehab in the same year.

He lost almost 128 pounds because he was addicted and took almost 50-55 tablets a day.

He claimed to have gone to 15 different recovery facilities, attended roughly 6,000 sessions of Alcoholics Anonymous, and calculated that he had spent about $9 million on his sobriety.
