Matthew Perry autopsy: Reports suggest death not caused by meth, fentanyl overdose

Reports suggest that Matthew Perry's tragic death was not the result of a meth or fentanyl overdose, leaving investigators to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.

Matthew Perry's death appears to have not been attributed to a fentanyl or meth overdose, according to initial findings. Law enforcement sources have informed TMZ that a preliminary, albeit less comprehensive, examination of Perry's system did not detect the presence of either fentanyl or meth. However, more extensive toxicology tests are currently underway to ascertain whether any other illicit substances were in his bloodstream and whether any prescription medications exceeded safe levels.

The comprehensive results of these tests are anticipated to become available within a timeframe of 4 to 6 months. Subsequently, once all the pertinent data is collected, the Coroner will be in a position to determine both the cause and manner of Perry's death.

Initial reports mentioned, the prescription medications discovered in Matthew's residence were all legitimately prescribed to the actor to manage his various medical conditions and were appropriately stored in their respective containers.

In the event that any suspicious findings were to surface in his autopsy report, the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division would persist in conducting an investigation. The initial inclusion of RHD in this matter raised some eyebrows, particularly given the absence of any evidence suggesting foul play at this time. However, it is not uncommon for detectives from this division to assume a leading role in high-profile cases due to their extensive experience and the substantial resources they can dedicate to such investigations.

Matthew was discovered unconscious in his hot tub on Saturday, at his residence in the Pacific Palisades. This happened after he had spent a few hours playing pickleball earlier in the day at Riviera Country Club. Although it seems that he may have passed away due to drowning, the official cause of death will be determined by the Coroner once all necessary tests and investigations have been concluded.

John Bennett Perry, Suzanne Morrison, Perry's parents, and "Dateline" correspondent Keith Morrison, his step-father, were spotted arriving at the actor's residence on Saturday night during the police response.
