Yanin Campos, beloved MasterChef México alum and bold digital creator on TikTok and OnlyFans, dies at 38 following a tragic car crash in Chihuahua
Yanin Rocío Campos Ruiz, a former MasterChef México contestant and rising social media personality, has died at the age of 38 following a car accident in her hometown of Chihuahua.

According to local authorities, Campos was driving along Periférico R. Almada at approximately 6:30 am on Saturday, August 2, when her black GMC Terrain SUV collided head-on with a parked vehicle. The Mexican Secretariat of Public Security confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway to determine whether speed or distraction played a role in the crash.

Campos was transported to Christus Muguerza del Parque hospital, where she remained in critical condition for two days. She passed away on Monday, August 4.

Her brother, Raúl Campos, confirmed her death in a statement posted on social media, saying the family would hold a wake the same day. “To family and friends. We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos,” he wrote.

Rise of Yanin Campos

Before entering the public eye, Campos trained as a nurse, a profession she pursued after exploring law and engineering. However, it was in the kitchen where she found her true passion. She rose to national recognition in 2018 as a contestant on the fourth season of MasterChef México, where her authenticity, culinary creativity, and cultural pride quickly earned her a devoted following.

Although she placed sixth, Campos returned the following year for MasterChef: La Revancha, a special season featuring returning contestants.

Her post-show career was marked by continued culinary involvement, including co-hosting a local TV segment, La Tertulia, collaborating with chef Raúl Linares on bakery projects, and helping develop menus for vegetarian restaurants.

With nearly 100,000 followers on TikTok and 75,000 on Instagram, she created content that blended cooking, humor, and candid reflections on life. Her openness extended to joining the subscription-based platform OnlyFans, which drew both criticism and admiration.

The news of her death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans, fellow chefs, and content creators. Tributes flooded her social media pages, with many remembering her for her kindness, courage, and unfiltered honesty.
