DailyMail reported that this comes following the network's viewership eventually plummeted with only 5.1 million viewers on the night of US Presidential Elections while severely trailing behind MSNBC and Fox News.

The new CNN CEO Mark Thompson who had taken over in August is actually leading the charge for recent changes which eventually includes a shift towards prioritizing digital content. CNN noted that various high-profile anchors like Anderson Cooper and Erin Burnett have uncertain futures while reports revealed that some senior stars have been also denied raises.
The CNN layoffs are expected to be implemented within the upcoming few months while it is creating a climate of anxiety among the employees. At the same time, Chris Wallace's departure also adds to the turmoil while he confirmed that his contract would not be renewed as he considers a transition to podcasting, asserted DailyMail.
