In a collaborative effort, fire crews from Massachusetts and Rhode Island rushed to the scene of a significant blaze at an auto lot on Wednesday morning.

The General Auto Recycling Store, located off King Road, witnessed numerous crushed cars engulfed in flames.

To combat the fire, responders from as far as Raynham, Massachusetts, joined forces, as the absence of hydrants in the area necessitated the deployment of multiple tanker trucks.

Tiverton Fire Chief William Bailey noted the property owner's active involvement in supporting the firefighting efforts.

Residents in the vicinity reported hearing explosions, prompting concerns about potential hazards.

However, officials confirmed the absence of gas tanks or batteries within the affected area.

The distinctive popping noises emanating from the fire were attributed to burning car tires. Fortunately, no residences were impacted, and there were no reported injuries.
