In a shocking turn of events, more than 100 individuals raided Ruben's Bakery & Mexican Food Inc. in California after an illegal street takeover in the vicinity, as reported by the New York Post.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, with a white car repeatedly crashing into the bakery's front door during the street takeover, allowing the perpetrators to gain unauthorized access.

Videos circulating on social media capture the mayhem as the mob looted the bakery, seizing lottery tickets, food, cash, and merchandise.


The aftermath left behind a scene of disorder and significant damage to the premises. Some looters attempted to conceal their identities, donning masks or using their hands to shield their faces with hoods.

What was the extent of the losses?
Upon the arrival of deputies at the scene, numerous individuals were observed fleeing. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is actively investigating the incident. The bakery owner disclosed losses amounting to nearly $20,000, affecting earnings from the recent New Year's Eve holiday weekend, according to CBS News. Authorities are scrutinizing a white Kia Soul used to crash into the building, with a follow-up investigation to determine if the vehicle was stolen.

Residents of Compton expressed growing apprehension over the increasing frequency of street takeovers, with one resident telling FOX 11, "Law enforcement should have stopped them before it got out of control." Another resident echoed these sentiments on NBC Los Angeles, stating, "People are coming in and vandalizing, it's just scary."

Mayor's reassurance
Responding to community concerns, Mayor Emma Sharif acknowledged the worries of the residents, assuring them that the city is actively addressing the issue. "We do hear them and that we are listening to them. We do understand their concerns. We are working diligently to address those concerns," Mayor Sharif stated.
