Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died on Thursday morning, the team and the league said. He was in his second season with the team. Marshawn Kneeland, a former Western Michigan standout in his second NFL season, has passed away. He was 24. Police in a Dallas suburb stated Marshawn Kneeland was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound after evading authorities in his vehicle and fleeing the scene of an accident on foot.
Frisco police said on Thursday they are investigating a possible suicide. They said Kneeland didn't stop for Texas Department of Public Safety troopers in a chase that was joined by Frisco police on Wednesday night. Authorities lost sight of the vehicle before locating it minutes later. During the search after Kneeland fled, officers received word that Kneeland had shown suicidal indications. He was found dead early Thursday morning.
Kneeland died just days after recovering a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown in the Cowboys 27-17 loss to Arizona on Monday night. The Cowboys said Kneeland died overnight. Agent Jonathan Perzley asked for privacy.

Kneeland experienced heartbreak a few years ago when his mother, Wendy Kneeland, died before the draft. Marshawn Kneeland is survived by his girlfriend Catalina and his family.
