Billionaire Mark Cuban sparked a major debate on social media regarding Elon Musk's influence on the Donald Trump-led US government. He has raised questions about Musk’s intentions and control over free speech and said that the Tesla and Space X CEO is on a mission to make himself “above and beyond the President of the United States.”

Cuban, co-owner of Dallas Mavericks, took to X to express concern over the sweeping changes Musk is driving through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Benzinga reported.

What Mark Cuban said?

In his X post, Cuban asked whether Elon Musk’s mission is to get what he wants.

"Anyone consider that maybe Elon’s mission is for Elon to get what he wants, rather than the country to get what you voted for?" he wrote.

Cuban stated that the Tesla and Space X CEO seemed to be on a mission to "protect brand Elon at all costs."

Criticising Musk, Cuban noted that free speech is "everything" until it is "anything related to Elon." He also questioned who has the complete control over free speech on X, which is owned by Musk.

Elon Musk's growing influence

Cuban's remarks were aimed at the ongoing controversy in the US surrounding Elon Musk's increasing influence under US President Donald Trump as well as the sweeping changes the billionaire that taken through the Department of Government Efficiency.
