Maria Roslyakova has etched her name in history as the first athlete ever to perform a gymnastics routine at the North Pole, located in Russia’s Murmansk region.

16-year-old St. Petersburg gymnast Roslyakova showcased a breathtaking rhythmic gymnastics display, on July 7, with ribbon, ball, and clubs, executing her performance on a specially prepared ice mat placed at the exact convergence of the meridians - 90 degrees north latitude.



The routine, marked by elegance and precision, was carried out in near-freezing conditions, with the air temperature close to zero degrees Celsius. Dressed in a classic gymnastics leotard, Roslyakova defied the harsh Arctic climate to deliver a stunning combination of artistry and athleticism.

Her achievement has been officially recognised as a record in the 'Official Excellence' category, celebrating extraordinary human feats that push physical and mental boundaries.

The unique performance highlighted not only Roslyakova’s skill but also her resilience, as she adapted her movements to the challenging icy surface while maintaining flawless form.
