Marco Rubio Resignation
US secretary of state and White House national security adviser seems to be looking for an early exit from President Donald Trump's cabinet to lay the groundwork for a 2028 Republican presidential run, The Independent report said citing unnamed party insiders and sources. Rubio may need to distance himself from the Trump administration to avoid the fallout of foreign policy issues like US Iran war, the sources said.Who will exit Trump administration?
Around five cabinet members are looking to exit the administration to avoid congressional investigations or impeachment efforts under a newly elected Democratic majority, the report said citing insiders. The White House and the State Department have strongly denied the report. The speculation of the departures has been dismissed and called baseless. The speculation comes after devastating US midterm results for Republicans as they lost control of both the House and the Senate. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle dismissed the claims as "baseless, false conspiracy theories," an Anadolu Agency report said. State Department Assistant Secretary Dylan Johnson characterized the reports as "completely baseless fake news from made-up anonymous 'sources'".
J. D. Vance may be his main rival
Vice President J. D. Vance may be currently his main rival in the race to be the Republican nominee in November 2028, the report said citing senior party sources in the US and senior figures in the UK government.Vice president JD Vance has already blamed the war in Iran for the disastrous results to distance himself from it. Trump may also pin the blame for the policy and US midterm election loss on Rubio, defense secretary Pete Hegseth and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. These all the officials may be the potential scapegoats, the report said.
