The sky above US president Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home is set to carry more than warm ocean wind on Wednesday as the Democratic National Committee (DNC) will fly a banner to oppose Trump's decision to accept a luxury plane gifted by Qatar, as per a report.

Gift From Qatar Sparks Uproar

The US president received an expensive gift, known as "a flying palace" from Qatar, a major non-NATO ally of the United States, which was given to the Department of Defense (DOD) during his visit to the country, according to Newsweek.

Trump also shared his plan for a new $5.5 billion beachside golf course deal by The Trump Organization to develop a resort in Qatar, as per the report.

DNC Pushes Back With Flying Banner

However, there has been a massive backlash after he accepted the $400 million jet, the DNC in protest will fly the banner to make "crystal clear" that the president's allegiance "belongs to the highest bidder, not the American people," quoted Newsweek.

According to the Newsweek report, the banner would be seen from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach, which is close to Trump's house.

The DNC Chair Ken Martin said, "Donald Trump is using the presidency to personally enrich himself while he bankrupts working families," as quoted by Newsweek. Martin also criticised Trump for "his corruption is a slap in the face to the millions of Americans who are struggling to get by and put food on the table," as quoted in the report.

He also emphasized that, "Today, the DNC is highlighting what foreign autocracies around the world already know: Trump has no loyalty to the American people, national security, or the Constitution – his only allegiance is to his bank account and his billionaire buddies. Whether it's billionaires at home or governments abroad, Trump won't hesitate to sell out America's working families to the highest bidder," quoted Newsweek.
