The video begins innocently enough, with the kayaker enjoying a serene day on the water. However, the tranquility is shattered when the enormous Tiger Shark emerges from the surface. As any seasoned ocean-goer knows, a shark rising to the surface is rarely a sign of good news.
In a heart-pounding moment, the shark sinks its teeth into the side of the kayak, giving the kayaker a heart-stopping fright. Fortunately, the shark soon swims away, leaving its startled prey unharmed.
Viewers of the video understandably expressed their shock and concern in the comments section. Some suggested calling for a helicopter rescue, while others swore off the ocean entirely, echoing the famous line from the movie "Jaws" – "You're going to need a bigger boat!"
One TikTok user humorously summed up their sentiment, saying, "Yet another reason, among the hundred others, that I won't set foot in the ocean."

Kayaker Scott Haraguchi ‘thought it was a turtle’
The man in the video, Scott Haraguchi, later recounted his terrifying experience in an interview with local media, KITV4 News. He had been fishing when the incident unfolded, and the first sign of trouble was a whooshing sound that he initially mistook for a boat approaching without its motor.
Haraguchi described the moment he saw the massive creature: "I looked up, and I saw this big wide brown thing, which I thought was a turtle." It wasn't until the shark bit into his kayak that he realized the danger he was in.
Remarkably, after his close call, Haraguchi continued fishing and noticed a wounded seal nearby. He speculated, "I'm thinking that the shark actually disabled and wounded the seal and was waiting for it to die. Then it came back and thought I was the seal, and attacked me instead."
