Manchester United currently languish in 14th position in the Premier League and have not benefited much from Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag as the club's manager in November last year.

Since taking charge at Old Trafford, some former Manchester United players have been critical of him, as he appears to be under immense pressure to turn things around for the team.

In terms of numbers, Amorim has managed just 11 wins from his first 24 games, while he struggles to implement his 3-4-3 formation, Mirror reported.

Recently, the team was knocked out of the FA Cup after losing to Fulham on penalties.

Let’s take a look at what former Manchester United players have said about Amorim in the past few months:

1. Wayne Rooney

After United's FA Cup exit, Amorim claimed that the goal for his side is to "win the Premier League." Amorim acknowledged that the team was losing games, but added that the goal remains to win the big match, adding that he "don't know how long it will take."

Speaking to BBC about Amorim's comments, Rooney said it was "little naive" to say that they wish to win the Premier League "because from where they are now, they're a long way off that."

At present, the next step for the team is to get further up the table, Rooney added.

2. Gary Neville

Last month, Neville criticised Amorim and said that it was "awful" to see the way Amorim has set up the side.

As United conceded a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham, Neville questioned the distance between the two centre midfielders, claiming that it "breaks all rules of football."

"It's absolute madness. The structure of the team is awful," Neville said while doing commentary on Sky Sports.

Neville stated that it was an "embarrassing" situation for the side and people don't get to see this in even "under-9s football".

3. Rio Ferdinand

Ferdinand has also raised doubts over Amorim taking on the big role in Manchester United and said that he has failed to get the side playing as a team with "any real idea or real patterns.”

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand Presents, Ferdinand said whatever is happening with United right now is "sad state of affairs," adding that teams were visiting Old Trafford with "no respect whatsoever."

4. Paul Scholes

Scholes is another former Manchester United star to have raised doubts over Amorim, stating that the way he gets the side to warm-up is "odd.”

Highlighting that he used to play with "more freedom," Scholes said that players should be allowed to enjoy during warm-up and practice its touch, but right now whatever is happening with the side is "focused on tactics".
