Manchester United get together in MLS? DC United coach Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard hold talks
After Jesse Lingard was released from Manchester United, Wayne Rooney's DC United is in conversation with MLS about a significant transfer of the player.

After his agreement with Manchester United expired at the end of the prior season, Lingard was released, and a number of teams, including West Ham, Tottenham, etc., have been considering the prospect of taking him on a free transfer. However, it looks like none of them could make it to his expectations.
Lingard's salary expectations
Lingard's agents are reportedly considering a move to the United States where Rooney has just been appointed in the managerial position. The former Manchester United player has been demanding high salaries, rumored to be about £150,000 per week. The wage demand from Lingard has made a contract in Europe tough to obtain. However, given the weekly income he used to receive at United, the midfielder would be seeking a considerable wage. Rooney has taken over the American team that has had a string of disappointing results but has owners who are prepared to pay money to handle the new manager.
It would be a significant financial commitment for DC United and would not help Lingard's chances of making Gareth Southgate's England team for the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
Danny Mills, a former England and Manchester City defender, believes that Lingard has overpriced himself this summer and needs to lower his expectations.
Why does Rooney want to take Lingard in?
Lingard and Rooney collaborated twice for England while playing together for 44 matches for United.
At only 29 years old, Morrison, a fellow free agent, would be joining the 13th club of his floundering career if he joined DC.
Due to his failure to meet those expectations set for him in the youth team, the midfielder only ever appeared on the pitch thrice for United, but never with Rooney.
Along with Paul Pogba, Lingard and Morrison were members of the prestigious United squad that won the FA Youth Cup in 2011.
