Manchester City has dedicated a statue honoring club legends Colin Bell, Francis Lee, and Mike Summerbee.

The memorial, which is positioned on the west side of Etihad Stadium, is the work of sculptor David Williams-Ellis.

Bell, Lee, and Summerbee appeared in 1,280 games and scored 368 goals for City.

Key members of the City team

Summerbee, Bell, and Lee were key members of the City team that won the First Division in 1968, the FA Cup the following year, and both the European Cup Winners' Cup and the League Cup in 1970.

On a bronze plate on the statue's plinth, the names of all 29 players who appeared during this trophy-winning era are also inscribed.

Bell, a former England midfielder who scored 153 goals in 501 games for City, died in 2021 at the age of 74.

Lee, an ex-England striker who scored 148 goals in 330 City appearances, died in October at the age of 79.

"This is a truly special moment for me and my family," said Summerbee, a former England winger who scored 67 goals in 449 City games.

"I joined Manchester City in 1965 and it is the best decision I could have possibly made."

"His bond with this club's supporters was truly exceptional," said Jon Bell, addressing on behalf of father Colin that his father will be remembered in this way forever and it is something that their whole family is incredibly touched by and will take great pride in.

Jonny Lee, the son of Francis Lee, said, "My father enjoyed the most successful period of his career at Manchester City and to see that legacy immortalized in this way is so meaningful to his whole family."
