Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has apologised to Steven Gerrard over remarks he made against Liverpool's former talismanic captain Steven Gerrard.

Guardiola said he was sorry for his "unnecessary and stupid" remarks against Gerrard. Guardiola clarified that he admires Gerrard and his legendary career with Liverpool and England.

Pep Guardiola's Remarks


Pep Guardiola referred to Gerrard's slip during the crucial match between Liverpool and Chelsea in the 2013-14 Premier League season.

Gerrard's slip led to a goal for Chelsea and the London club defeated Liverpool at Anfield in April, 2014.

Manchester City took the advantage and eventually won the Premier League by two points from Liverpool.
