Man slips into coma after losing consciousness on frozen-themed ride at Hong Kong Disneyland, dies

Further detailing the sequence of events, the spokesperson stated that at around 10:00 AM local time on Friday, August 29, "a foreign guest suddenly lost consciousness while riding the Frozen Ever After attraction" at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. "After the boat was preparing to dock, cast members immediately arranged first aid to check on him and perform CPR," the representative further stated.
The spokesperson revealed that the tourist died "at around 11:30 a.m. at the hospital” despite being "promptly transported by ambulance to North Lantau Hospital."
Deceased man had a pre-existing medical condition
The deceased man’s "accompanying family members later reported that the guest had a pre-existing medical condition," according to the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort spokesperson. "The resort deeply regrets the passing of the guest and will do its utmost to provide necessary assistance to his family. Our initial investigation has shown the incident is not related to ride safety," the park representative further stated.
According to the South China Morning Post, police said that they received a report at 10:18 AM (local time), and the wife of the deceased man told them that he had a pre-existing medical condition. Initially, the deceased man’s wife found that he had fallen into a coma during the ride and immediately informed the staff.
Man had a decade-long history of heart disease
The Frozen Ever After ride at Hong Kong’s Disneyland theme park opened in November 2023. The slow-moving boat ride is located in Disney’s first-ever themed land dedicated to the hit Frozen film franchise.
