Two members of a family mauled to death by seven dogs at Tennessee home.
A tragic incident occurred in Tennessee on Wednesday, where two members of a family were found dead inside their home. They were apparently mauled to death by the family’s pack of pit bulls, a group that had already left the neighborhood gripped with fear. Following the incident, the body of one of the two deceased, identified as James Alexander Smith, 50, was found inside the Tullahoma home on Wednesday afternoon (December 3, 2025), according to The New York Post.

The outlet also reported that as the first body was discovered, his three-month-old granddaughter was still being attacked by their seven dogs. The police shot down all the dogs to reach the bloodied victims, the 14th Judicial District Attorney General informed. By the time police reached the infant, it was too late, as she had succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities launch probe

An investigation was launched into the matter, and authorities are investigating whether the two victims were mauled to death or were already dead before the dog attack. “This was an especially difficult and brutal scene,” Attorney General Craig Northcott said in the release, as quoted by the NY Post.

“Please pray for the family of the victims in this difficult time as well as the first responders as they cope with the trauma from what they witnessed,” the release further read. The surviving dogs were taken into custody by Tullahoma Animal Control, the NY Post reported, citing officials.

Authorities reviewing dogs’ history

Authorities are also reviewing the dogs’ history of aggression to understand whether any past issues involving the children and the Department of Children’s Service had any role in the tragedy, the attorney general said. There has been no confirmation so far given by the officials whether criminal charges will be filed.
