Man dies after riding Universal’s Stardust Racers roller coaster
A tragic incident happened at Universal’s recently opened Epic Universe theme park when a man in his 30s lost his life after experiencing one of its flagship roller coasters.

A Universal spokesperson mentioned that “On Wednesday night, a guest was unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers and was transported to the hospital, where the guest later died. We are devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest's loved ones. We are fully cooperating with Orange County and the ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed.”

What Happened

According to the authorities, the unidentified guest became unresponsive during the ride and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead. While the exact reason of death is still unknown, officials mentioned that the man did not fall from the ride. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation surrounding the incident.

The dual-launch, dueling coaster accelerates speeds of up to 62 miles per hour and becomes as high as 133 feet along a 5,000-foot track. Epic Universe, a 110-acre park that cost an estimated around $7 billion to construct, officially welcomed guests in May 2025 following delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is Universal’s fourth destination in Orlando, joining Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. Epic Universe is also the initial significant U.S. theme park to launch in more than a quarter-century.

The park has more than 50 attractions, including highly anticipated regions such as Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic.
