A man, who resides in Caldwell, Idaho, has been caught beating a dog repeatedly on a security camera. The footage was uploaded on the social media platform Nextdoor on Saturday. It showed a man repeatedly assaulting a dog, triggering hundreds of comments and responses.

The post claims the incident happened in the 1020-1030 block of N 7th Avenue in Caldwell. The Idaho Statesman reports that the resident saw a man leave after hearing a dog in distress racket on his front porch.

He stated that he later reviewed the recording from his Ring doorbell camera, shared it on Nextdoor and contacted Caldwell Animal Control. Officers were unable to locate the culprit upon arrival.

On Monday, a man in his 20s identified himself to Canyon County authorities as the individual in the video. According to the announcement, Caldwell Animal Control officials visited the man's residence, but he was not named due to this case's highly sensitive nature.

Animal control's investigation confirmed that the man and dog in the video were those depicted, and investigators determined that the dog exhibited no apparent injuries or other signs of distress.

According to a news release on Wednesday, cops seized the dog but did not arrest the owner.

The dog was transferred to West Valley Humane Society. Caldwell Lt. Doug Winfield said the unidentified man said his dog escaped his fence and he was late for work, which caused frustration and the reaction.

Officials said it was the man's first offense for misdemeanor animal abuse.
