Boeing is in the news once again for the wrong reason. In the latest addition of Boeing mishaps that have taken place this year, a fire broke out 15 minutes after the Boeing 738 aircraft took off from the Indian city of Hyderabad and the Kula Lumpur-bound flight returned, reports 'Business Insider'. A video going viral on social media sites shows the engine of the plane on fire with sparks flying out behind it. The plane returned to make an emergency landing at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Malaysia Airlines confirms incident

Confirming the incident, Malaysia Airlines said that the plane returned to Hyderabad safely with no injuries reported. It said in a statement, "All passengers and crew disembarked safely. Affected passengers will be reallocated to other flights for their continued journey."

Boeing's door opened mid-air

This is not the first time that a Boeing aircraft has met with an accident. When a Boeing 737 Max 9 jet of Aalska Airlines was flying at an altitude of 16,000 feet in January, its door plug came off and the door got opened. In a separate incident taking place in March, Boeing aircraft of a United Airlines flight lost its tire shortly after takeoff.

Boeing accused of being lax in quality control

Many whistleblowers have said that the company has been lax with its quality control. In an interesting incident, quality assurance inspector Sam Mohawk said that Boeing lost track of hundreds of faulty 737 parts and asked the concerned staff to hide improperly stored plane parts from FAA inspectors.

On the other hand, Boeing CEO David Calhoun has defended the aircraft maker and said that he is proud of its safety record.
