Renowned Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has actually introduced a House Joint Resolution to amend the US Constitution while potentially allowing US President Donald Trump to serve a third term, reported Daily Beast. The proposed amendment would eventually permit an US President to be elected up to three times with a restriction on consecutive terms.

According to Daily Beast, Republican Congressman Andy Ogles praised US President Donald Trump as ‘the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation's decay’ while arguing that he needs additional time to accomplish his goals. The proposed amendment would specifically prevent former US Presidents like Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton from seeking a third term.

The constitutional amendment faces an extremely challenging path to implementation while it would eventually require a two thirds majority in both the House and Senate and ratification by 38 states which is a nearly impossible feat without significant bipartisan support, asserted Daily Beast.

This proposal now follows the previous hints of US President Donald Trump about extending his US Presidential tenure. During a November meeting with House Republicans, US President Donald Trump jokingly suggested the possibility of a third term while saying that ‘Unless you say, He's so good, we have to just figure it out’, noted Daily Beast.

Concurrently, Democratic Congressman Dan Goldman also introduced a latest resolution which reaffirms the 22nd Amendment's two term limit while calling any attempt to circumvent it should be ‘blatantly unconstitutional’.
