The winner of the LSU-UCLA clash will face Arkansas in another elimination game later Tuesday. Both teams had been preparing intensively for the showdown, which now becomes part of a packed day of CWS action.
The NCAA announced that the LSU-UCLA game will resume at 11am ET on Tuesday, June 17. The delay is not expected to affect the schedule of the remaining College World Series games, with Oregon State set to face Louisville at 2pm ET and Arkansas taking on the loser of the LSU-UCLA matchup at 7 pm ET.
LSU held a 5-3 lead after three innings when rain swept over Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, forcing a pause in the game.
LSU fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning but quickly responded with a four-run outburst in the bottom half to seize the lead.
Earlier, Arkansas' Gage Wood etched his name into College World Series history, throwing just the third no-hitter ever recorded in the tournament and the first in 65 years, in a 3-0 win over Murray State to keep the season alive with a record 19 strikeouts.
