President Donald Trump on Monday authorized the deployment of an additional 2,000 National Guard members to Los Angeles in response to ongoing protests over federal immigration raids, according to U.S. officials. The order follows days of demonstrations sparked by arrests conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement across the city.

The Pentagon also confirmed the deployment of approximately 700 U.S. Marines to assist in securing federal facilities and personnel. The move prompted criticism from California officials, including Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta, who argued the federal deployment violated state sovereignty and unnecessarily escalated tensions.
