Amazon Prime Video’s grand series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has a big update for fans — LOTR: TROP has reportedly finished shooting. This, amid the ongoing writers' strike in the US by the Writers Guild of America.

Director Wayne Che Yip hints LOTR Season 2 wrap-up


In an interview with ComicBook, Wayne Che Yip, one of the directors of the LOTR series, hinted that the series had wrapped up.

He also talked about some of the challenges the crew faced during the shoot, and how they overcame it.

He said that the "most challenging thing" while filming the show was "making different actors different heights". He gave an example of how the actor that he needed to play the smallest character would actually be the tallest person on the sets. The team really had to plan a lot, he revealed.

But the crew’s main goal was to make the actors feel comfortable and natural. "Because at the end of the day, if the performances weren't there, it didn't really necessarily matter whether we made someone look tall or look smaller,” he said.

The director went on to say how the team "worked very hard with the visual effects department" to make sure that "the actors could always, to some extent, act with each other".

Director JA Bayona knows how Lord of the Rings will end

JA Bayona, one of the other directors of LOTR, who had directed the first two episodes of Season 1, revealed that he already knows how the series ends despite only season one having been released.

Bayona said in a press statement, "I'm very excited with that story. I know the ending. I know where everything is heading to, and I'm super excited to see the whole thing, not only one story, in the whole story."

He shared his experience directing the first season of LOTR: TROP, saying, "It was a massive responsibility. I have so much respect for the books. I read them when I was a kid and read them back to prepare for the show. You felt the responsibility of taking such a beautiful story back to the screen."
