Loni Anderson, beloved star of ‘WKRP in Cincinnati,’ passed away in Los Angeles on August 3, 2025, just two days before her 80th birthday
Loni Anderson, the glamorous star of the classic sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, passed away on August 3, 2025, in a Los Angeles hospital after a prolonged illness. She was 79, just two days shy of her 80th birthday.

Known for her unforgettable role as Jennifer Marlowe, the smart and poised receptionist at a quirky radio station, Anderson became a staple of 1970s and 1980s television. Her performance earned her three Golden Globe and two Emmy nominations, cementing her as a trailblazer among female TV leads.

Her family confirmed her passing in a statement: “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother. She left us peacefully, surrounded by family.”

Her journey

Born on August 5, 1945, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Anderson was the daughter of Klaydon, an environmental chemist, and Maxine, a model. Their influence shaped both her discipline and her show-stopping public image. She began her acting career in the 1970s, landing her breakthrough role in 1978 with WKRP in Cincinnati.

Beyond the screen, Anderson became a symbol of elegance and strength. Her marriage to actor Burt Reynolds in 1988 was a media spectacle, followed by a turbulent divorce in 1994. She reportedly received a $10 million settlement, including property and alimony.

Despite the public scrutiny, Anderson remained grounded. She later wrote her memoir My Life in High Heels, chronicling her personal challenges, motherhood, and commitment to health causes.

Career, Net Worth, and Advocacy

Anderson’s estimated net worth of $12 million stemmed not only from acting but also from real estate. She sold a Beverly Hills mansion for $5.7 million in 2007, purchased post-divorce for about $2.275 million. She sold another property in Sherman Oaks for $2.1 million in 2015.

She was a passionate advocate for COPD awareness, inspired by her parents’ long battles with the illness.
