Lizzo performs with antique 200-year-old flute once owned by James Madison

American singer, songwriter and rapper Lizzo gave the crowd a treat at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., by performing with a historical two-hundred-year-old crystal flute. The flute was manufactured in 1813 by French flute maker Claude Laurent, per the Library of Congress, and presented to former US President James Madison.
The Congress Librarian, Carla Hayden, wrote in the days before Lizzo's D.C. stop on her North American tour, what appeared to be an invitation for Lizzo to view the library's extensive range of flute collections. Hayden tweeted to Lizzo that next week when she is in Washington, D.C., she is welcome to look at it and maybe even play a couple. Hayden said they were just like her song, "Good as Hell."
That dream became a reality on Tuesday night after the Grammy-winning musician visited the Library of Congress and got to use the old flute live.
Lizzo later said that she twerked and performed with James Madison's flute from the 1800s. She exclaimed that history is so awesome! She also thanked the Library of Congress for protecting their heritage and elevating history as a fantastic subject.
