More about Lionel Richie

Born on 20 June 1949 during the summer of Tuskeegee, Alabama, Lionel Brockman Richie Jr. was fond of music right from the initial years of his life. In school, he kept on doing experiments with it and created a plethora of groups before he began singing for the Motown group Commodores. This group embarked on a journey of commercial success in Lionel’s life especially when he wrote and sing ballads like Sail On and Easy.

However, he decided to work as an individual and released Happy People in 1974 and Endless Love in 1981 on his own. Soon, he released his second solo album Can’t Slow Down in 1983 which ultimately boosted his career in enormous ways. This album stood at number 1 on Billboard 200 album chart and in 1985 it also acquired the title of Album of the Year award at the Grammy Awards.
