Managers at Paris Saint-Germain are worried that Lionel Messi's request to showcase the World Cup trophy could lead to unfavourable reactions from the team's supporters.

On Sunday, Messi led Argentina to victory in the competition by scoring twice as they defeated France on penalties. La Albiceleste won the World Cup for the first time since 1986, and the triumph ignited raucous celebrations throughout South America.

However, emotions have risen as a result of Emiliano Martinez's dispute with Kylian Mbappe and the burning of a cardboard grave bearing Mbappe's name by some fans. When Messi returns to PSG after Argentina's victory celebrations, such tensions may worsen.

Messi has asked to be given the opportunity to deliver the World Cup trophy at Parc des Princes. Players now give each other personal congratulations before their first match back after winning them.

Sadly, for Messi, the fact that he represents the top team in the French capital is putting a stop to that from happening this time. According to reports, the PSG leadership is "hesitating" to grant the 35-year- old's request.

They worry that Messi handing the trophy to the PSG home crowd after defeating their national side in the final will be "extremely hard" for them to take. The "excess" of emotion may result from some Argentina players' "provocations" of France and Mbappe.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, did congratulate Messi on winning the World Cup, though he walked a tight line because Mbappe is now an important player for the team he manages. On being asked if they will keep both Mbappe and Messi, he said yes. He said that they are the two top World Cup players. He also replied that he has agreed to speak with Leo after the World Cup, so he didn't say anything else about him.

Naseer further said that as a club, PSG has broken all the records. Both of them and Achraf Hakimi, who placed fourth with Morocco, deserve all the admiration. It was, in his opinion, the greatest World Cup final ever.

Mbappe has already made his way back to Paris and is rumoured to be eligible for their first Ligue 1 match following their break next week. While Argentina continues to celebrate their victory, Messi has been allowed a lengthier respite. His return to France has not yet been confirmed.
