Lionel Messi is launching a new sports drink called Mas+. This is his first time making a drink that is not alcoholic. The drink is low-sugar and has electrolytes and vitamins and comes in four flavours.

The drink will be released in Miami first and then rolled out to other places later this year. The drink will then be sold both online and in stores.

Lionel Messi and White Claw’s parent company partnership

In an effort to tap into the $33 billion energy drink market, which is dominated by well-established competitors like Paul's Prime, Gatorade, and BodyArmor, soccer star Lionel Messi has partnered up with White Claw's parent company to develop a new hydration drink.

Even with Messi's fame, the drink's market is still difficult due to established rivals. Additionally, as Americans drink less alcohol, this drink marks Mark Anthony Brands' first push into the non-alcoholic drink market, according to the reports of CNN Business.

All about the drink

Messi's low-sugar Más+ drink contains vitamins and electrolytes without added sugar, colour, or caffeine. There are four flavours available: Miami Punch, named after his current Inter Miami squad, and Orange d'Or, which honours the eight times he has taken home the coveted Ballon d'Or prize.
Available in bottles and cans, the beverage will come to Miami on June 13 before expanding to its website in July and US stores in August. Later this year, there will be a global rollout.

Major League Soccer announced that since Messi's arrival, sponsorship revenue has increased by 15% to $587 million. Notable companies like Celsius have been named as the league's official energy drink. Regarding Messi's possible new opponent, the league refrained from commenting right away.
Owned by Mark Anthony Brands, the company behind White Claw and Mike's Hard Lemonade, the drink is a part of their new non-alcoholic beverage range. The firm has been adding additional non-alcoholic choices to its lineup, such as White Claw 0% Alcohol Seltzer, in response to consumers who are cutting back on their drinking with the lines between categories becoming less distinct.
Precedence studies predict the market for energy and hydration drinks to reach $60 billion by 2032, with an approximate 6% annual growth rate.

Does attaching Messi's name guarantee success?

Adding Messi's name to a beverage doesn't ensure success, according to Snaxshot CEO Andrea Hernandez, as the industry is already crowded with well-known brands like Prime, Gatorade, and BodyArmor. Competitive pricing and solid distribution agreements are essential for success, however Messi's reputation does provide some benefit. She pointed out that given that Prime hasn't yet made a complete dent in Latin America, Messi's immense popularity there would be advantageous. Hernandez said that some people like the flavour of Messi's beverages since they are made with cane sugar. A good-tasting product is crucial, she stressed, especially since new energy drinks target Gen Alpha, the generation that is about to enter adolescence.
