Lily-Rose Depp plays Jocelyn in the upcoming show. Later, in the series, Tedros joins her and – then – they both navigate the darker side of Hollywood, drugs, and rock 'n' roll along the way.
The series has faced criticism for going off track after changes in the cast and the departure of the original director, Amy Seimetz, as per a report by Rolling Stone.
Additionally, Tesfaye announced that The Idol Vol. 1 soundtrack will be released on June 30, with the first single from the album, titled "Popular," already dropped on June 2. The single features collaborations with Madonna and Playboy Carti, adding to the excitement surrounding the show's music.

"The Idol” premieres on Sunday at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT exclusively on HBO. It can be streamed at the same time on HBO Max. The first season consists of six episodes, with each episode released weekly. The finale will be available to stream on July 9.
