An armed man was arrested near White House by US Secret Service officials claiming he heard voices in his head telling him to kill President Donald Trump. The U.S. Secret Service said a suspect has been taken into custody and charged after officers found him in a vehicle near the White House with multiple guns. The statement described the person as a migrant from Venezuela who is in the country illegally after entering the U.S. through Texas in March 2024. DHS said he has been charged and currently remains in U.S. Marshals Service custody.
The arrest Thursday night happened after Secret Service officers approached a man “acting suspicious” in a parked car, according to a Homeland Security statement. U.S. officials say the suspect — Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos — then went on to describe voices in his head that were telling him to come to the nation's capital and kill the Republican president.

Earlier in April, shots were fired as US President Donald Trump attended a press dinner in Washington.
Loud bangs were heard and guests at the black-tie White House Correspondents' Dinner scrambled to hide under tables. Tactical teams with guns drawn took position on the stage where Trump had been sitting before he was evacuated.
Police swarmed the Washington Hilton Hotel where the event was taking place, and helicopters hovered overhead. The pool report said the alleged shooter was in custody, citing the Secret Service.
Following the Press dinner incident, the White House was reviewing security protocols. It was third major security incident targeting Trump in less than two years occurred.
