The 38-year-old feminist advocate made a rare appearance in Washington DC on March 31. The rally was hosted by the Christopher Street Project for the Trans Day of Visibility, People magazine reported.
What did she say?
With the US Capitol in the background, Dunham spoke to the crowd, which includes advocates and allies.This was her maiden public appearance since September last year. She spoke in length about the Christopher Street Project, which "builds and leverages political power to make equity a reality for transgender people across the country," Harper's Bazaar reported.
She was seen wearing a pink sweater as well as matching eyeshadow to support the cause. She completed her look with black pants and a topknot.
Dunham was not the only notable personality at the event, which also featured other famous names taking to the podium to extend support to the cause. Some of these included US representatives like Pennsylvania’s Summer Lee, Illinois’ Robin Kelly, Oregon’s Val Hoyle, Massachusetts’ Katherine Clark, Hawaii’s Jill Tokuda as well as Senator Brian Schatz, Florida’s Maxwell Frost, California’s Sara Jacobs and many others.
Most of the event was targeted around US President Donald Trump and his administration for allegedly attacking diversity and other negative decisions against the transgender people in recent times.

'Total pleasure and honor'
Post the event, Dumham took to Instagram to share a few photographs of herself and said that it was a "total pleasure and honor" to speak at the rally.She stated that altogether they stood in front of the US Capitol to celebrate a community that means more to her than "Instagram allows characters for."
Dunham witnessed an "inspiring" crowd at the event, adding that the youth will play a major role to "save us," while the elders will show the way.
This includes an online pop-up, fashion show as well as a party celebrating trans joy, People magazine reported.
People can also look forward to purchasing limited-edition T-shirts that have been specially designed by artists, activists, and public figures to support the cause.
