Leaking fuel from Tim Allen’s yacht leads to shutdown of Michigan marina
The Michigan marina of the north had to close around the Fourth of July weekend as Tim Allen’s yacht started leaking fuel into the water. The actor is reportedly paying for all the clean up after the disaster.

The marina was shut down for all of Sunday and all day Monday due to the spill as per Harbormaster Bill Rosemurgy. The marina was opened again on Monday night. Diesel spreads faster than regular gasoline and thirty gallons might not seem a lot at first but it is, as said by Rosemurgy.
The leak was the result of a fuel filter issue on the boat which caused a leak of the fuel into the boat’s engine compartment first. After it filled up the engine compartment, the bilge pump put out the fuel into the water of the marina.
Allen said while he was taking the boat around Omena Bay that’s when the accident happened. All the clean-up costs will be borne by Tim Allen. According to the “Home Improvement” actor, the leak was about 11 gallons, contrary to what was said by officials. As said to the Record-Eagle by Tim Allen, he is sorry for closing down the marina and harbor for everyone.
The marina and the officials from Mackinac Environmental and the Fire Department of Leelanau Township sent brooms and hundreds of absorbent pads to clean up the diesel from the water. The US Coast Guard was informed of the spill and is overlooking the cleanup efforts of the marina.
