Five-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill has postponed her anniversary tour following a vocal injury.

In an Instagram post, Hill said she is forced to take Prednisone, a numbing steroid, which made it hard for her to continue her 17-date tour.

“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely,” she wrote.

The tour has made stops at notable venues such as Brooklyn’s Barclays, Chicago’s United Center, and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Initially scheduled to run through mid-December, the tour is a celebration of Lauryn Hill's iconic debut solo album, 1998’s “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” Additionally, the Fugees are reuniting to co-headline the tour on all U.S. and Canadian dates. Although the trio announced a world tour in 2021 and held a concert in New York that September, all other dates were ultimately canceled.

“Being able to tour this album to sold out crowds after 25 years has been an emotional experience! I’ve loved sharing the stage again with Wyclef and Pras,” Hill captioned a video of her show. “The Return of the Fugees has been powerful and amazing—those who’ve witnessed it can testify.”

In addition to their upcoming performance in Philadelphia this weekend, Hill clarified that they would be rescheduling "most of the remaining shows this year." Furthermore, the shows that were canceled this year will now be rescheduled for early 2024, she stated.

“We want to thank everyone who celebrated with us—EVERY SINGLE FAN …and ALL band, crew, production, staff, family, friends and Day 1-OG-CAMP members who helped make each and every single night LEGENDARY!”
