Launch of new I’m A Celebrity series sees viewership fall
"I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!" sees a notable drop in viewership with over two million fewer tuning in compared to the previous year. Despite the decline, the series premiere on ITV still ranks as the network's highest overnight audience...

The first episode of the 23rd series ran from 9 p.m. to 10.45 p.m. It included well-known figures including Jamie Lynn Spears and former Brexit and Ukip leader Nigel Farage. Especially, former health secretary Matt Hancock, who was placed third in the previous season, made an appearance later in the 2022 season. Hancock's involvement came after he resigned for violating Covid-19 guidelines by hugging his office assistant.
Even though the current series' premiere episode had ITV's largest overnight audience of the year and the biggest entertainment debut of any channel, it's still important to note that viewership has significantly decreased from the previous year. A public vote determined the outcome of Farage and YouTuber Nella Rose's bushtucker eating trial, called the Jungle Pizzeria, on Monday's episode.
Farage disclosed past medical history, including neck reconstructions, and said he would not take part in manual labor trials. He was seriously hurt in a plane crash in 2010 in the Northamptonshire town of Brackley.
This Morning host Josie Gibson made jokes about Brexit in response to Farage's entry into the jungle. Taking the joke well, Farage, who is well-known for being a staunch supporter of the UK leaving the EU, said, "I had a feeling we'd get a bit of that." In addition, hosts Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin joked about Farage and apologized to GB News viewers for his absence from the program.
In addition to Farage and Spears, other well-known stars that have appeared in the show are food critic Grace Dent, actor Nick Pickard from Hollyoaks, singer Marvin Humes, former EastEnders actress Danielle Harold, and former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson.
